Henrique Chaves, our researcher, has been honored with the Young Scientist Award at the 4th URSI – Atlantic Radio Science Conference. His award-winning work, titled “Development of Adaptable Feedback Channel for Wireless Power Systems,” was presented at the conference held in Gran Canaria, Spain, from May 19 to 24.
Chaves' research focuses on developing an adaptive feedback communication module for various Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) systems. He emphasized the importance of having accurate information on the energy collected and the precise location of devices in wireless energy transfer systems, which must be accessible to the transmitter.
Henrique Chaves acknowledged the support of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI) and its Portuguese Committee for their dynamic opportunities. He credited his mentor, Nuno Carvalho, as well as the University of Aveiro (UA) and the Instituto de Telecomunicações, for their invaluable guidance and contributions.
Henrique Chaves completed his Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications at UA in 2022. Since September 2023, he has been pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering at UA. As a member of the Radio Systems research group at IT, his main research interests include wireless power transfer, satellite communications, and systems integration. Notably, he has also won two awards in aerospace engineering by securing the European university qualification for the WCRC CanSat World competition.
