IT has identified automotive and mobility as crucial areas for intervention. The scientific and technological network needs to be revitalized and guidance must be developed over the next few years to leverage the infrastructure and know-how from many projects, e.g., Route 25, Aveiro Steam City, CityCatalyst, 5G-MOBIX, STEROID, and PASMO.
ERTICO – ITS Europe was founded in 1991 at the initiative of 15 industry leaders and the European Commission, to bridge the gap between research and deployment of road mobility services. Over the past two decades, ERTICO has led dozens of European projects, organised 38 ITS European and World Congresses, expanded from 15 to 120 Partners, engaged in public consultations and policy agendas, and established long-term relations with key players worldwide.
ERTICO mission is focused on enhancing automotive and mobility sectors by making them safer, more efficient, and sustainable. It seeks to take a leading role in the digital transformation of transportation, pioneering cutting-edge technologies, and developing innovative solutions for smarter mobility of people and goods.
IT views the ERTICO’s partnership - which will be headed by Joaquim Ferreira (from Embedded Systems – Av group), as a strategic and pivotal endeavor with the potential to consolidate its societal mission and expand its activities in the field of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems.
In this respect, IT is committed to contributing to scientific and technological advancements in its areas of expertise: IT has a strong track record of addressing community goals and needs, firmly positioning itself as a significant contributor to national and international public policies.
In this context, José Carlos Pedro, President of IT’s Board of Directors, underscores that the “ERTICO partnership represents a significant opportunity for IT to greatly expand its R&D initiatives in the automotive and mobility sectors, through collaborative efforts with research centers and companies worldwide. Membership with ERTICO aligns with our goals and contributions to society, particularly in light of global challenges in mobility and sustainability”.
As a new member of the ERTICO consortium, IT will take a key role in this strategy.
