Academia das Ciências de Lisboa announced this June, the new members elected for the year 2023.
Of the eight professors nominees belonging to the Instituto Superior Técnico, three are researchers from the Instituto de Telecomunicações, respectively, as an effective member, Mário Figueiredo (from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering), in the category of corresponding partners André Martins (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering/Department of Computer Engineering), and Carlos Fernandes (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering).
Members of the Academia das Ciências de Lisboa are chosen from among citizens of Portuguese nationality who have produced scientific or literary works of recognized merit.
The purpose of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences is to practice and encourage scientific research, to promote the enrichment and study of other forms of national culture, to collaborate in education and teaching activities, and to contribute to research, for the appreciation and discussion of ideas.
