André Martins and Francisco Alegria, senior researchers at Instituto de Telecomunicações, were among the 57 researchers and faculty members recognized at the 2026 University of Lisbon/Caixa Geral de Depósitos (ULisboa/CGD) Scientific Awards, presented during a ceremony held on June 16 at the Portugal Pavilion Congress Center in Lisbon.
André Martins Receives Scientific Award in Computer Science
In the field of Computer Science and Computer Engineering, our researcher André Martins received the ULisboa/CGD Scientific Award 2026. The distinction recognizes his outstanding contributions to research, particularly in the areas of natural language processing and artificial intelligence, fields in which he has gained international recognition.
Francisco Alegria Receives Honorable Mention
Also, our senior researcher Francisco Alegria was awarded an Honorable Mention in the category of Electrical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering (Avionics). The distinction was shared with Guilherme Henrique Caçador Ramos, acknowledging their contributions to advancing research in these fields.
