T3SH-City - Towards Truly Intelligent, Safe, Sustainable, and Healthy Cities project aims to develop and test innovative solutions for urban and peri-urban territories, with a particular focus on the Cova da Beira region. Its main areas of intervention are:

  • Smart Cities and Artificial Intelligence (predictive analytics, computer vision, recommendation systems);
  • Safe Cities (resilient digital infrastructures and cybersecurity);
  • Sustainability, Environment and Mobility (water and air quality, noise monitoring, intelligent resource management, active mobility);
  • Health and Well-Being (monitoring and personalised recommendation);
  • Water Skills / Water Competence Centre;
  • Cyber-Physical City (cloud ecosystem, IoT sensors, integrated monitoring platforms).

This is an integrated project funded by CCDR Centro under the Centro 2030 Programme (Portugal 2030), with a total investment of approximately €850,000.

The project’s scientific leadership is led by Bruno Miguel Silva (UBI Department of Computer Science and Instituto de Telecomunicações) and Cristina Fael (Department of Civil Engineering and C-MADE - Centre of Materials and Building Technologies), as Co-Principal Investigator. IT, in Covilhã, is one of the research units involved in the project.

Both emphasise the integrative nature of the initiative, which brings together expertise from multiple disciplines to support the development of safer, more efficient, and healthier cities. The project also includes an 8-month real-world pilot in the partner municipalities to validate the developed technologies.
