From July 7th to 10th, the University of Coimbra hosted the 17th International Conference on Organic Electronics (ICOE 2025), one of the most prestigious global events in the field of organic electronics.

This year’s edition was organized by the Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT), represented by Henrique Gomes, Ana Charas, and Youssef Elamine, in collaboration with INESC MN, through Helena Alves. The event also received institutional support from the University of Coimbra and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) of the Faculty of Science and Technology.

Over four days, the conference featured 73 oral presentations, 97 posters presented in two dedicated sessions, 10 keynote talks by internationally renowned leaders, and 20 invited speakers.

The event brought together participants from 24 countries, including 10 from outside Europe.

ICOE 2025 marked a pioneering moment for Portugal, being the first time the country hosted a major international conference in organic electronics. The event showcased not only the vibrant national and international research in the field but also highlighted the scientific excellence and growing international recognition of the Organic Electronics and Bioelectronics research teams at IT and INESC MN.
