The article "Delay Guarantees for a Swarm of Mobile Sensors in Safety-Critical Applications" was recently published in the IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society. This paper looks into the delay guarantees that can be obtained for swarms of mobile wireless sensors deployed for monitoring, surveillance, and other safety-critical applications. The paper derives the service time in a non-saturated homogeneous single cell network, and the effects of disconnections determined by technology range in a “backhaul” link connecting the swarm to a sink.
