The demo “Hardware-In-The-Loop Testing in V2X Simulation Environment” was awarded the Best Demo at the 2024 IEEE Vehicular Networking Conference (VNC) held in Kobe, Japan, from May 29 to 31, 2024.
Mohannad Jooriah (IT/UA) and Joaquim Ferreira (IT/UA) presented the demo, a result of the Route 25 project, which was conducted in collaboration with the Vortex Colab. The other authors of the demo were João Almeida (IT/UA), Daryna Datsenko, Ana Sousa, and João Silva (Vortex Colab).
Hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) testing is a test methodology used throughout developing real-time embedded controllers to reduce development time and improve test effectiveness.
The demo showcases two physical On-Board Units (OBU) in an Artery V2X simulation using the Robot Operating System (ROS). This allows the exchange of ETSI Cooperative Awareness Messages (CAM) and Decentralized Environmental Notification Messages (DENM) via the V2X simulation environment.
