The work “LAMPSY” developed by Vicente Garção, a Ph.D. student hosted by IT, was distinguished with the “Best E.Project by Santander” (grand prize) at E.Awards@Técnico 2023.
“LAMPSY” aims to develop a novel video-based epilepsy monitoring and seizure detection device that monitors patients in a discreet and privacy-preserving way.
This work builds upon multiple years of research developed at Instituto de Telecomunicações, at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), and is being developed in the scope of an ongoing Ph.D. thesis, supervised by DBE Professors Hugo Plácido da Silva and Ana Fred, together with Professor Carla Bentes, involving also the collaboration of DBE Ph.D. student Mariana Abreu.
This distinction aims to support and award the best innovation and entrepreneurship projects designed by IST students enrolled in Entrepreneurship and Innovation courses, regardless of the study cycle, with the aim of encouraging, recognizing, and disseminating ideas and entrepreneurial and innovative projects formulated by the IST community.
