COMSOLVE project, the result of a joint venture between Coopérnico, the Instituto de Telecomunicações, Magnum Cap, and also the council of São Salvador (in Ílhavo) and the municipality of Ílhavo (Aveiro, Portugal), proposes bringing innovation in managing and distributing energy, bringing broad environmental, economic, and social benefits.

The main objective of this project is to produce energy through a sharing system centered on the role of consumers (proconusmers). This means that entities and citizens assume the role of both consumers and energy producers, whose transaction uses blockchain technologies.

Implementation will be carried out by the cooperative for renewable energies Copérnico. This way, the COMSOLVE project will bring significant benefits to the localities where it operates, rather than focusing on financial profits.

This project brings excellent technological and social innovation, being able to answer mainly for the families that live in situations of energy poverty. The future expectation is to expand this model and technology to several locations. To the renewable energy communities (CER) model, the COMSOLVE project adds the integration of electric vehicle charging and energy storage systems.

This project is led by Joaquim Ferreira (IT researcher and Professor at the University of Aveiro) and funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), through the Lisbon Regional Operational Program and by CENTRO 2020.
