We are proud to announce that IT researcher Hugo Plácido da Silva was elected vice-chair of IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) - Portugal chapter, for the 2022-2023 biennium.
The new board elected for the 2022-2023 biennium is configured with the chair João Paulo Cunha (FEUP), vice-chair Hugo Plácido da Silva (IT-IST), secretariat Fátima Domingues (IT-UA), and treasurer Duarte Dias (FEUP).
EMBS is one of the largest international societies of Biomedical Engineers, which congregates 12 thousand members spread across 97 countries. EMBS is committed to the application of engineering sciences and technology for the advance of medicine and biology, to the promotion of the Engineering professions that aim to improve health and enhance the quality of life and the development of their professionals, as well as to promote multidisciplinary scientific and technical events for dissemination of knowledge. In Portugal, it is represented by its Portugal Section Chapter, and it was founded in 2006.
