Veronica Orvalho is a finalist for the EU Women Innovators award 2021 alongside 21 outstanding female founders, selected from 264 applications, from 35 countries.

Veronica Orvalho is IT researcher, founder, and CEO of Didimo, a technology platform for the fast creation of user-generated digital humans, enabling the richness of human communication to enhance every virtual interaction. Her research was already distinguished with the Women Who Tech award (2017), BEST TIC Award (2015), IBM Scientific Award (2009), 1st Place Alumnidea (2006), and others. Orvalho’s inventions have been used by Universal Studios, Sony, Microsoft, and Amazon as well as in European and Portuguese funded research projects.
The EU Prize for Women Innovators is awarded to the most talented women entrepreneurs from across the EU and countries associated with Horizon Europe, who has founded a successful company and brought innovation to the market.
The prize also seeks to celebrate the women entrepreneurs behind game-changing innovations, aiming to raise awareness of the need for more women to come forward and create role models for women and girls' empowerment.
The winners of the EU Prize for Women Innovators 2021 will be announced at the European Innovation Council Summit taking place on 24-25 November 2021. At the same event, the Commission will award the European Capital of Innovation Awards, and the European Innovation Procurement Awards.
