Researchers from IT will present several projects at the National Meeting of Biomedical Engineering Students, an annual non-profit event organized by students to promote networking within the field.

The 16th edition of ENEEB (Encontro Nacional de Estudantes de Engenharia Biomédica) will be held online during the course of four days, from March 4-7. IT’s visit will take place today, between 6-8pm.

IT President Carlos Salema will guide the visit and introduce five speakers/teams, who will present IT research projects on various areas of Biomedical Engineering. They include: João Felício, on Microwave Medical Imaging; Carolina Gouveia, on the Bio-Radar; Henrique Leonel Gomes, on Implantable Organic Nano-Electronics; Hugo Proença on Biometric Iris Recognition; and finally Hugo Silva and Ana Fred, who will present Vitalidi.

In addition to renowned speakers, the event will include debates, networking opportunities, testimonies of former students, contacts with companies, workshops and visits. Some of the areas covered in the meeting are nanomedicine, biomaterials, robotics, bioinformatics and entrepreneurship.

Over the past few years, ENEEB has brought together hundreds of Biomedical Engineering students from all over the country, as well as alumni, researchers and professionals in the field, to promote the exchange of experiences through conferences, debates and visits to companies and laboratories. This year, students will have to take advantage of these experiences on a virtual event platform, due to the ongoing pandemic.
