Joel Rodrigues, a Professor at the Federal University of Piauí, in Brasil, and Senior Member of IT, has been named an IEEE Fellow, for contributions to the Internet of Things and vehicular communications.

Joel Rodrigues is an international top ranked professor and researcher with more than 800 published papers in refereed international journals and conferences, 3 books, 2 patents, and 1 ITU-T Recommendation, with more than 13000 known citations in the scientific literature.

The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The total number selected in any one year cannot exceed one-tenth of 1% of the total voting membership. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement.
