The 12th edition of the Iberian Meeting on Computational Electromagnetics was held, with great success, in Coimbra, from 15 to 18 May, 2018, organized by IT-Coimbra and the University of Coimbra. Previous editions had been organized by IT-Aveiro and University of Aveiro, in Seia (2005), and by IT-Lisbon and Instituto Superior Técnico, in Sesimbra (2011).
This edition has provided an interactive forum between the Portuguese and Spanish research groups, working on applications of electromagnetics in various branches of Electrical Engineering, fostering a highly specialized environment. The groups presented the research lines they are currently pursuing and their most relevant results in a large variety fields covering the scope of the meeting.
Gathering 45 participants, presenting 39 communications, 16 from Portugal, 31 from Spain, and 2 from out the Peninsula, the program included the following sessions: Numerical methods; Metamaterials; Theoretical electromagnetics; Chiral and gyrotropic media; Antennas and equivalent circuits; Arrays; Communication channel and signal processing; and Surface integrated waveguides and plasmonics.
Several IT PhD and undergraduate students had the opportunity to present their work in front of a specialized audience. The organizing committee was chaired by Tiago Morgado, Mário Silveirinha and António Topa. Carlos Salema, the President of IT, also addressed the audience with a presentation on information integrity. The next edition will be held in Santander, in October 2019, organized by University of Cantabria.
