António Costa joins the BITalino "fanclub"
by IT on 22-02-2018
During a visit to the Escola Superior de Tecnologia of the Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal (EST-IPS), the Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa had the chance to know more about BITalino, the spin-off technology developed in IT that allows anyone to create projects and learn how to use biosignals in the most varied biomedical applications. Hugo Silva, Professor at the EST-IPS and the IT researcher who developed BITalino together with Ana Fred (also from IT), revealed the platform is currently being used by more than 5000 users from 70 countries. World renowned universities such as the MIT and Stanford, as well as industry giants like Intel, Facebook and Volkswagen are also among this extensive list of BItalino users.
António Costa was very curious about BITalino and, as Hugo Silva revealed us, “he was particularly pleased with the fact that the production and design of the equipment are made in Portugal”. In fact, BITalino proudly assumes its Portuguese origins exhibiting Portugal´s map engraved in their boards, accompanied by the sentence “Designed in Portugal, Built for the World”.
Accompanied by other government members like Manuel Cabral – Minister of Economy and Manuel Heitor – Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, this visit took place within the government´s initiative “Roteiro de Inovação” in Setúbal, where, along with BITalino, the Portuguese Prime Minister had the opportunity to get in touch with several other innovative projects in the digital field.
