José Carlos Pedro, who has more than 30 years of teaching at the University of Aveiro and is a researcher at IT since 1985, has won the IEEE MTT-S Distinguished Educator Award.

This award annually distinguishes someone for his outstanding achievements and qualities as a professor, mentor and a role model in the field of microwave engineering and science, making him an example of the special human qualities of Fred Rosenbaum, who considered teaching a high calling.

The Awards Banquet ceremony, where the portuguese IT researcher received the award from the hands of Ke Wu, President of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society, was held in San Francisco, May 25, during the 2016 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium.
For José Carlos Pedro, who already won other teaching awards, “this is one of the most important distinctions I have ever received”.
