The Portuguese Minister of Education and Science, Nuno Crato, and the South-African Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor, have signed last 4th September an agreement to deepen the relationship between the two countries on what comes to science, technology and innovation.
Domingos Barbosa represented Instituto de Telecomunicações in the formal act as coordinator of the ENGAGE SKA research infrastructure, from Strategic Infrastructure National Itinerary. This coordination is focused on the national participation on the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) project, focusing particularly on the cooperation S&T with South african institutions.
SKA project is one of the current boldest human endeavours to build the world's largest radio-telescope, and was worth the visit of the Portuguese delegation, in Karoo desert, which included a visit to MeerKAT and KAT-7 precursors.
