Recently Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) and Microsoft Language Development Center (MLDC) have signed a partnership for R&D joint initiatives. This partnership is a result of a long history of networking in the area of speech processing. It just came out following a cooperation in the framework of the IT internal project LetsRead, which aims at implementing a system that automatically evaluates the reading performance of primary school children. The scope of the agreement includes research in the area of computational linguistics, phonetics and speech processing.

This partnership will give the opportunity to strength the cooperation between industry and academia in the language technologies field. A short stay of an IT PhD student at MLDC is set to start very shortly!
