A position statement signed by the majority of the Associate Laboratories, University Departments and Research Institutions in the area of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), was addressed to the President of FCT expressing deep concern about the recent FCT policy of using ORCID\SCOPUS to assess individual and research units' bibliographic productivity and impact.

Out from other databases covered by ORCID, SCOPUS database selected by FCT as the single one to assess and rank the Portuguese research institutions, has very limited coverage of the CSE area.

The position statement addressed to the President of FCT was the last resort after several failed attempts to alert FCT for the negative impact on fairness and equity of bibliometric evaluation result based solely on SCOPUS.

The position statement is posted publicly to the attention of the Evaluation Panels.
