Rui Fonseca-Pinto (MD, PhD) received the Licenciado degree in Mathematics from the University of Évora in Portugal in 2000, and the M.Sc. degree in Applied Mathematics (Medical Physics) in 2004. He is post degree in Medical Physics and Biophysics and received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and Biophysics in 2010 at the University of Lisbon, Portugal. In 2017 he concluded the MSc degree in Medicine - University of Lisbon.
As research interests he has been enrolled in several interdisciplinary research teams linking Medicine and Engineering, in particular, his main research studies are in the field of the Autonomic Nervous System Assessment and Dermoscopic image processing of skin melanocytic lesions, from whom he as published paper journals, and two book chapters. Currently, he is also Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, and Researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the Multimedia Signal Processing Group, at the Leiria Branch of IT.
