Overview

The Image Laboratory backs up the research and development of multimedia technologies, especially in the areas of visual information analysis, modeling, processing, manipulation, representation, coding, description, rendering, adaptation and quality assessment.

Due to the importance of the interoperability requirement in the context of visual services, the Multimedia Signal Processing group considers as essential the pro-active participation in the two most important audiovisual representation standardization bodies, notably MPEG and JPEG.

Also the participation in national and international research and development projects is a major target of the group. In fact, the Multimedia Signal Processing group continuously tries to find the best balance between research, project and standardization activities
