Overview

The Power Systems Laboratory at Coimbra includes a main lab with 90 m2 and two office rooms with 18 m2.
It supports PhD and MSc students developing research in the Power Electronics and Electrical Machines domains.

The lab is equipped with several types of power electronic converters and electrical machines as well as test equipment to measure electric power signals. Several digital platforms to develop and test controllers for power electronic converters are also available in the Lab.

The main research topics are related with fault diagnosis and fault tolerance in both power electronic converters and variable speed drives. Inductive power transfer, renewable energy, magnetic regulators and lamp drives are also research topics pursued in the Lab.
