Overview
The Power Electronics Laboratory (PEL) of Instituto de Telecomunicações was proposed by the Power Electronics Group (PEG) of IT – Lisbon site, and was mainly financed by the Program of Re-equipment of the State Associated Laboratories, Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia - FCT, under the project contract REEQ-1267-EEI-2005. The referred program permitted to equip the laboratory with recent, state of the art equipment, aimed for Power Electronics Research & Development.
The objective of this laboratory is to support research and development work at Instituto de Telecomunicações in the Power Electronics Area, whose level of exigency is constantly increasing. It is also an objective of this Laboratory to support any other scientific research work performed by other IT groups or by other recognised Scientific Institutions outside IT.
The IT Power Electronics Group develops research work aiming to contribute for the improvement of power electronics systems performance. The main research fields are:
. High Frequency Converters
. Power Quality and Active Power Filters
. Contactless Energy Transmission
. Switching Converters for Integration in CMOS Technology
. Energy Storage Systems
. Single stage converters for interface between renewable energy sources and the mains electrical network.
