The group research activities are geared to support the dedicated instrumentation and measurement requirements of the three scientific areas of IT - wireless networks, optical communications and networks and multimedia. There are other research activities in the broad domain of Metrology, particularly Applied Metrology, most of them interfacing IT specific scientific areas either because they have a strong communication component or because they involve technologies common to telecommunications. The Group has in addition the capability to develop probes and electronic systems for non-destructive testing, as well as sensors and transducers for dedicated applications.
