The objectives, activities, and main achievements of the group are mostly developed in the context of the Digital reality and gaming, and Bio Applications and Health, with relevance for the Beyond 5G, and Autonomous mobile systems IT challenges. Several activities in the group involve the efficient coding of visual data, notably for emerging visual data models. Some of these activities were developed in close collaboration with international standardization groups, notably JPEG and MPEG. In terms of analysis, medical signals play a key role at the group, not only regular images and videos but also auscultation signals, SPECT and PECT scans, speckle patterns, gait, and heart rate measurements. The group has also significant research in the field of synthetic visual content and systems.
