The Pattern and Image Analysis group of IT-Lisbon is devoted to advancing the state of the art in methods for the processing and analysis of signals, images, and other types of information. Our core topics and tools are statistical inference, information theory, machine learning and pattern recognition, sinal processing, inverse problems, and optimization. Our main application areas include remote sensing, image reconstruction and restoration, and acquisition, processing and analysis of biomedical signals. We have achieved and aim at continuing to deserve worldwide recognition as a leading group in these topics.
