IT researcher Daniel Corujo is co-organizing the MOBISLICE Workshop –5th edition of Mobility Support in Slice-based Network Control for Heterogeneous Environments – that will take place in conjunction with VIII IEEE Conference on Network Function Virtualization and Software Defined Networks, on 14th November 2022, Chandler, AZ, at USA.
Rui Aguiar, Networld Europe Seering Board Chair, Full Professor at Universidade de Aveiro is one of the invited keynote speakers.
Network slicing has been a key capability brought forward by the novel 5G mobile architecture. Supported by the integration of novel mechanisms and tools, such as Software Defined Networking, Network Function Virtualization, and RAN enhancements, this capability has triggered a broad spectrum of technological and technical work. This work was able to produce not only important findings for better service provisioning in mobile environments, but also manifested an unprecedented degree of interest from vertical players who see this as a definitive game-changer for evolving their operations to new levels, in addition to providing important insight for the technological landscape realization in future generations of mobile networks.
The MOBISLICE Workshop has open calls for papers extended until September 28th, 2022, on the following topics:
Use cases and architectures evaluation: Slices in constrained environments (IoT, Edge, etc.) Vertical-based scenarios (e.g., Factories of the future including manufacturing automation and process automation; Automotive service and ITS; Telco Operator and enterprise-based environments) Smart-X slice mobility, assisted by AI/ML, fog, and edge Reliability and security Experimental, real trials, and their impact on vertical performance.
Network, Computation, and other enablers Main operations and API: Inter- and intra-slice mobility procedures Lifecycle management and impact Heterogeneous access convergence or abstraction High availability and reliability techniques Experimental and real trials Secure-enabled, AI/ML-enabled, and Fog/Edge-enabled slices.
Standardization efforts and activities: Status and progress in 3GPP/ETSI/IETF/ONF and other SDOs Proposals and standardization direction for advanced slicing SDN/NFV/Cloud/Edge/Fog initiatives Slice-enhanced Networking and telecommunication protocols AI/ML and Security-based slice standardization.

IT joins the Portuguese Society of Physiology (SPFis) in the co-organization and dissemination of its 2nd International Meeting,
The Meeting is an opportunity to discuss the latest (teaching) methods and (research) trends in the main fields of human biomedicine. The conveners hope to receive an audience of academics, researchers (from medicine to biochemistry and biology, to pharmacy and biomedical engineering), and professionals (doctors, health technicians from clinical areas to the sport, among others) that share a passion for Human Physiology.
The Meeting will be hosted at ESTeSC of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra on 11 and 12 November 2022 and has the scientific sponsorship of international organizations, such as the FEPS - European Federation of Physiological Societies, the IUPS - International Union of Physiological Societies, and the APS - American Physiological Society.
Early Bird: July 31, 2022
Abstract submission: June to September 15, 2022
Notification of Acceptance: October 5, 2022
