... On April 28, 2022, starting at 2:30 pm, at the Instituto Superior Técnico Congress Center, a session will take place in which Professor Pedro Silva Girão will present, on the occasion of his retirement, his last class entitled “Electrotechnical Engineering and Computers: 1970-2020 and Beyond”.

Pedro Silva Girão is a Full Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, and a Senior Researcher, the Head of the Instrumentation and Measurements Group and, with Jorge Morgado, Coordinator of the Basic Sciences and Enabling Technologies of the Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT).
Main research interests include instrumentation, transducers, measurement techniques, and digital data processing, particularly for biomedical and environmental applications. Metrology, quality, and electromagnetic compatibility are also areas of regular activity.
He is a Fellow of IET, Senior Member of IEEE, Associate Editor of IET-SMT, member of the Editorial Board of several international publications, and a regular reviewer of IEEE Trans. on Instrumentation and Measurement, Trans. on Biomedical Circuits and Systems, Sensors Journal, Signal Processing Letters and member of the technical program committee of IEEE IMTC, SPICES, SSD, CIVEMSA, Sensors and MeMeA (co-chair in 2014), maintains a strong relationship with IMEKO, being a member of the Advisory Board and Honorary Chair of TC-19.

Quantum Tech Day - Workshop of QuantumMining and QuGenome projects

... The Optical Quantum Communications group, from IT Aveiro, is organizing the Quantum Tech Day Workshop. The workshop will deliver the QuantumMining and QuGenome project’s results.

Quantum Tech Day will be held in a hybrid format (in-person and online) on March 30th of 2022, on the amphitheater of Instituto de Telecomunicações, the pole of University of Aveiro (program below).

QuGenome is a research project focused on a secure multiparty computation service supported by quantum technologies to provide secure and fast multiparty private analyses of genome databases to construct Phylogenetic Trees. QuantumMining is a national project which is going to develop a new generation of cryptographic technologies, based on the realization of both high-speed and secure quantum oblivious transfer (QOT) cryptographic primitive.
