This talk will address the potential for collaboration between the Federal University of Itajubá (UNIFEI), FEUP and IT in the field of communications for robotics. UNIFEI is one of the most prestigious and reputable Engineering universities in Brazil. It stands out for being a pioneer in teaching Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and it is considered the first Brazilian technological university.
The talk will briefly introduce several projects already developed in the robotics area and supervised by the speaker such as:
- ROSRemote, using ROS on cloud to access robot remotely
- Learning eficient communication of sensory data for IoT applications
- Embedded real-time systems with ROS 2
- Hybrid coordination architecture for MRS using cloud computing and distributed systems
- Utility analysis in MRTA
- Deep learning for multi-robot SLAM
- Real-time ensemble-based tracker with Kalman Filter
Guilherme Bastos graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Itajubá (2001), master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Itajubá (2004), PhD in Electronics and Computer Engineering from the Technological Institute
of Aeronautics (2010), with sandwich doctoral stay held at the Australian Centre for Field Robotics (2009). He is currently an associate professor and the program coordinator of the Graduate Studies in Science and
Technology Computation. He has experience in the areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering, acting on the following topics: automation and industrial electrical systems, autonomous robotics, stochastic decision systems, machine learning, systems integration, and infrared thermography.
IT-Porto in collaboration with the research unit Cister will host, this year, the 37th edition of the IEEE Real-Time Systems Symposium (http://2016.rtss.org/), the flagship conference of the real-time systems community. Despite originally planned for Salvador da Baia in Brazil, the Technical Committee decided to relocate the conference following the epidemy of the Zika virus. Meanwhile the edition of 2017, for which Porto had applied, as assigned to Paris.
Thus, RTSS 2016 (http://2016.rtss.org/) will take place from the 29th of November to 2nd of December of 2016, in the premises of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto and of the Polytechynic Institute of Porto. More Information..
