The optics industry is evolving toward a model in which frames can be produced sustainably, customized to the user, and equipped with sensing capabilities. Realizing this vision requires advances on several fronts: sustainable biomaterials, additive manufacturing, biomedical sensing, and digital co-creation.
Instituto de Telecomunicações, Coimbra's branch, will host the workshop "The Future of Smart, Sustainable, and Personalized Eyewear," on September 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at DEEC, Pólo II of the University of Coimbra.
Organized within the scope of the OnDemand project, the workshop brings together experts around these technologies, with presentations on biomaterials for additive manufacturing, production of personalized optics, integrated biomedical sensing, and digital co-creation, culminating in a round table and public debate.
