The IEEE Communications Society Portugal Chapter, the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Portugal Chapter, and the Instituto de Telecomunicações are pleased to announce the “GPS Games Portugal Tour 2026”, a two-stop, three-day event bringing hands-on learning in GNSS and amateur radio to Covilhã (University of Beira Interior) and Lisbon (Instituto de Telecomunicações, IST).
Led by internationally experienced speaker Miroslav Skoric, this initiative offers participants a unique opportunity to explore real-world applications of GPS technologies in communication systems.
This session introduces the fundamentals of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) within the amateur radio context, with a focus on APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System).

Afternoon Extension (Covilhã)
The learning continues with “Environment Monitoring and Amateur Radio” (12:10 PM - 4:00 PM), exploring how GPS systems integrate with environmental sensors such as temperature, humidity, and telemetry.
Hands-on Workshop (Covilhã)
A follow-up session, “Hands-on Antennas”, will take place at the Faculdade de Engenharia, focusing on practical antenna setup for VHF/UHF and HF communication.

About the Speaker
Miroslav Skoric brings over 30 years of experience in computer systems and amateur radio. A globally active educator and IEEE Senior Member, he is known for delivering practical, engaging sessions combining theory, demonstrations, and real-world applications.
