The “Secure Communications: A UK-Portugal Dialogue” event is part of an ongoing series organized by the British Embassy in Lisbon, focusing on pivotal topics in cybersecurity and emerging technologies. This initiative began in 2022, following the release of the UK National Cyber Strategy, with the inaugural session, “Cyber: A Whole-of-Society Approach.”
Since its launch, the UK-Portugal Dialogues have addressed a broad spectrum of issues, including digital transformation, cybersecurity in healthcare, cyber resilience in financial services, the impact of emerging technologies, and specialized subjects such as submarine cables. These events aim to strengthen bilateral dialogue between the United Kingdom and Portugal while fostering strategic partnerships between businesses from both nations.
On November 28, the series continued with the “Secure Communications” conference, organized in collaboration with the Instituto de Telecomunicações. This session emphasized the importance of critical communications infrastructure in ensuring a secure cyberspace and supporting the growth of an innovative digital economy.
