Instituto de Telecomunicações invites researchers, students, and all interested participants to attend the seminar Time-Varying Electronic Circuits as Modulators, presented by Antonio Alex-Amor, Assistant Professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain.
The seminar will take place on 2 July 2026 (Thursday), at 15:00, in LT5 (4th Floor, North Tower).
Time-varying electronic circuits are emerging as a promising approach for advanced signal processing and telecommunications. In this talk, Antonio Alex-Amor will present a circuit topology based on a time-modulated varactor diode, acting as a time-varying capacitor, combined with an operational amplifier and other electronic components. Through both simulations and experimental results, he will demonstrate how the output signal can be frequency modulated, paving the way for innovative frequency modulation schemes.
Speaker
Antonio Alex-Amor (Pozoblanco, Córdoba, Spain, 1994) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronic Technology and Communications at the Autonomous University of Madrid. He earned his PhD in Telecommunications Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid in 2021, graduating cum laude with International Doctorate distinction and receiving the Extraordinary Doctoral Award.
He has held research appointments at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden) and the University of Pennsylvania. He is the inventor of a patent on reconfigurable 3D metastructures and has served both as a collaborator and as Principal Investigator on technology transfer projects in the ICT sector, securing more than €2 million in competitive funding.
