Instituto de Telecomunicações will host Martien Kas, Professor of Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Groningen, on May 4th, at 09h30, in Meeting Room 11:26, at North Tower, IT - Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisboa, for a conference entitled: “The Neurobiology of Social Dysfunction: A Transdiagnostic and Translational Approach.”

Martien Kas is a Professor of Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Groningen, working within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. His research focuses on understanding how the brain influences behavior, with particular expertise in neurobiology of behavior, translational neuroscience, and behavioral genetics. His work often connects animal studies to human mental health, aiming to improve the understanding and diagnosis of psychiatric disorders.

In addition to his academic role, he has held several important positions in the scientific community. He is a former President of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP), serves on the editorial board of Mammalian Genome, and contributes to the strategic development of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). He is also involved in innovation as the Chief Scientific Officer of Behapp and is a scientific member of the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities.
