International Girls in ICT Day 2026

Next April 23rd, we will be celebrating together with Universidade da Beira Interior (Instituto de Telecomunicações, Covilhã), IEEE Portugal ComSoc Chapter, and WIE, the IEEE Portugal International Girls in ICT Day 2026.

We will gather former and current students of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Informatics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, and other related fields, aiming to bring together academic and non-academic experiences in the engineering world and to increase the number of girls interested in this area.

Secondary school students (girls and boys) are also invited.

Ana Garcia Armada, UC3M

Professor at Universidad Carlos III of Madrid, Spain, where she is leading the Communications Research Group. She has been a visiting scholar at Stanford University, Bell Labs and University of Southampton. She is an IEEE Fellow.

Isabel Trancoso, IST/Univ. Lisboa

Full Professor at IST, University of Lisbon (retired), and the former President of the Scientific Council of INESC-ID, the institute where she spent her career in speech research, except for a period at AT&T Bell Laboratories.

Fernanda Coutinho, ISEC/IPC

Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Coimbra Institute of Engineering (ISEC), Polytechnic of Coimbra, where she teaches in areas ranging from embedded systems and robotics to medical devices.

Helena Ramos

Full Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, where she has been a member of the teaching staff since 1980. She conducts her research at Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) in the field of Instrumentation and Measurements, and, currently, she is a member of the board.

Catarina Gonçalves

Embedded Software Engineer with 3+ years of professional experience in the automotive industry, where she has developed her expertise in V&V and automated testing. Currently, Catarina is doing her PhD studies also in the automotive area for 3D object detection and segmentation based on LIDAR sensors.

Cristina Saeta

Strategic marketing consultant and university lecturer specializing in digital transformation, innovation, and data-driven strategy. She holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (Spain), including an Erasmus year at Universidade da Beira Interior (Portugal).

Virginie Felizardo

PhD is in Computer Science with a background in biomedical informatics, bionic systems, and biomedical sciences. Currently, she is a researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações, Guest Assistant Professor at the University of Beira Interior.

Beatriz Rato

Her academic journey began in 2017 at the University of Beira Interior, where she graduated in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and then pursued a Master's in Mathematics and Applications at the University of Aveiro.
