Professor Touradj Ebrahimi is a professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) and head of Multimedia Signal Processing Group in the same institution. He is also Convenor (Chairman) of the JPEG standardization committee. Prior to this he was with AT&T Bell Laboratories in USA and Sony Corporation in Japan.

Professor Ebrahimi is one of the pioneers of the concept of Quality of Experience (QoE) which is now widely used in ICT. He is the founder and chair of the steering committee of the International Conference on Quality of Multimedia Experience (QoMEX) and chairs the COST Action Qualinet (European Network on Quality of Experience in Multimedia Systems and Services).  Prof. Ebrahimi has founded a number of start up companies in multimedia and acts as scientific technical advisor in small and large companies in the above field. He represents Switzerland as the head of its delegation to MPEG and JPEG standards. He is a consultant, evaluator and expert for European Commission projects, for various governmental funding agencies in Europe and advises a number of Venture Capital companies in Switzerland in their scientific and technical audits.
