Summary Scientific Area Networks and Multimedia Group Interactive Multimedia - Po Admission Requirements Doctoral degree. Preference to previous experience in the following areas: - interactive systems - software engineering - computer graphics - virtual reality - auto-rigging technology - speech recognition system - facial muscle animation systems Work objectives The work will involve research, design, development, installation and evaluation of a novel animation pipeline that covers capture, synthesis and animation of realistic virtual humans in real time that will be integrated in the project GOLEM. The work will also in the conduction of novel research on presence in virtual environments. The student will also need to define and run the validation of the technology and write the corresponding documentation. Place of work The work will be developed at the Instituto de Telecomunicações based at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, under the supervision of Professor Verónica Costa Teixeira Pinto Orvalho. Duration 3 months, extendable upon performance. The estimated beginning date is on 1st of July 2013 (or soon thereafter). Monthly salary 1495,00 Eur, according to table values of the scholarships awarded directly by the Instituto de Telecomunicações. Selection criteria Selection of the candidates will be performed by evaluation of the curriculum vitae, namely the academic performance and research experience in the aforementioned areas and/or a personal interview for the best candidates. Summary A research position for one Bolsa de Pós-Doutoramento (1 BPD) is opened at Instituto de Telecomunicações in the scope of the project Virtual Embodiment and Robotic Re-Embodiment, FP7-ICT-2009-5, funded by European funds through Seventh Framework Program, according to the following conditions: Scientific area: Computer Graphics and Human-Computer Interaction. It is expected that the student proposes and implements an effective system that will run in our character animation engine. The student will also need to define and run the validation of the technology and write the corresponding documentation.
