Abstract

The time variation due to Doppler scaling effects, coupled
with dispersive scattering due to multipath propagation and
diffuse scattering from vegetation media, can severely limit
the performance of wideband systems. This research project
investigates current approaches and aims to develop new
more accurate narrow and wideband channel models
through theoretical analyses and experimental data from
appropriate measurements at various frequencies, including
2.4, 5.6, 38 and 62.4 GHz.
This paper builds on the (discrete) Radiative Energy
Transfer (dRET) modelling work recently carried out, and
focuses on an important extension to the dRET model to
investigate the dynamic propagation effects caused by
wind-induced foliage movement in the millimetre wave
band.
