Abstract
The control of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) drive can be achieved through the implementation of different control techniques. This paper presents a comparative study of vector control and direct control techniques applied to PMSG drives for wind turbine applications. Rotor field oriented control (RFOC) and direct torque control (DTC) are considered for the generator-side converter control, and voltage oriented control (VOC) and direct power control (DPC) are examined for the grid-side converter. Simulation and experimental results are presented.
