Research Grant - GreenEyes – Networked Energy-Aware Visual Analysis

Summary Scientific Area Networks and Multimedia Group Multimedia Signal Processing – Lx Admission Requirements Curso na área das Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (mínimo de 5 anos de formação, Mestrado completo ou equivalente). Sólidos conhecimentos de Inglês falado e escrito. Excelentes conhecimentos de programação (C/C++, MATLAB, etc). Factores preferenciais para a selecção: i) candidatos com experiência nas áreas de visão computacional, compressão de características visuais e recuperação de informação e ii) candidatos que pretendam continuar os seus estudos com vista à obtenção do grau de Doutor. Work objectives O plano de trabalhos consiste no desenvolvimento de um novo conjunto de metodologias, algoritmos e protocolos, de forma a adicionar capacidades de processamento de imagem às redes de sensores sem fios. A abordagem seguida deve permitir que a maior parte das tarefas de processamento sejam realizadas numa representação sucinta da imagem sem se ter acesso à representação tradicional ao nível do pixel; características globais e locais são assim exploradas como uma linguagem comum para a realização de tarefas de processamento de imagem. Neste caso, o âmbito do trabalho insere-se no desenvolvimento de novas e eficientes características visuais adequadas às limitações impostas pelas redes de sensores, nomeadamente recursos energéticos limitados, memória, etc. Por outro lado, estas características devem permitir a realização de tarefas de análise de imagem com elevada eficiência, tal como reconhecimento de objectos, seguimento de objectos e reconhecimento de acções. Place of work O trabalho será desenvolvido no Grupo de Processamento de Sinal Multimédia do Instituto de Telecomunicações, sob a orientação científica do Professor João Miguel Duarte Ascenso. Duration A bolsa terá à duração de 6 meses, renovável por comum acordo entre ambas as partes, com início previsto em Julho de 2013. Monthly salary O montante da bolsa corresponde a €1000. O pagamento da bolsa será feito com periodicidade mensal, através de transferência bancária.
